What does raloxifene do to the body? Raloxifene is a medication primarily used to prevent and treat osteoporosis in postmenopausal women. It works by mimicking the effects of estrogen in some tissues while blocking the effects of estrogen in others. This selective estrogen receptor modulator (SERM) helps to maintain bone density and reduce the risk of fractures. Additionally, raloxifene has been shown to reduce the risk of invasive breast cancer in postmenopausal women with osteoporosis or at high risk of breast cancer. However, it does not stimulate the breast or uterus like estrogen, thereby avoiding some of the potential risks associated with traditional hormone replacement therapy. visi dosepharmacy for more details |
